Principal's Observation & Welcome Note

Jawaharlal Nehru Collge, Boko is one of the pioneering rural institutions in the South Kamrup of Assam established in the year 1964 to bring higher education to the door-steps of the deprived and poorest section of the society. Today it has emerged as a complete institution of higher learning with both Arts and Science streams. Besides that it offers education of career and job oriented courses for the future prospect of the students. The institution endeavours to impart quality education keeping in tune with the social, moral, spiritual and economic needs of the people of North East.

Quality teachers are capable of extending quality education. The institution has teachers in different faculties who have carried on many good minor and major researches in their respective fields of studies contributing largely to the body of higher education. Further there exists a beautiful teachers students friendly relation that enables each and every student to approach freely the respective teachers of the departments for any kind of consultation, clarification etc. There are always prepared to meet the needs of their students with a sense of commitment.

The students learning in the institution are encouraged to realise their potentiality and accordingly they are provided with the opportunity to represent themselves in various national events. This college has won the laurel by the students in the National Game achieving medal.

Continuous efforts are in progress to introduce more and more job oriented courses so that the rural youths will be easily employed after their completion of education.

Courses like Mass Communication, Journalisim, Child care and Education, functional English are on agenda for introducing in the college keeping in mind the job opportunities of these courses in the current global context.

The completion of the proposed Indoor stadium with the assistance of the Rabha Hasang Autonomous council is on the way and hoped that the same will be ready with well equipped Auditorium to bloom the sporting talent of our students.

The college has taken to hand the construction of the Administrative Building and the Girls' Hostel with the UGC grants within its campus. The completion of these works will go a long way in meeting the long standing demands of this institution.

The college has the objective of imparting value based education and the vision of integrating the society and the Nation intellectually, emotionally and spiritually for a prosperous future.

With this observation, on behalf of the fraternity of J.N. College, Boko the students are welcome to exhaust all their possibilities offered by this rural institution to prepare them as healthy citizens of the country.
